FALLING LEAVES TABLE RUNNER

Strip sets are a natural pairing with this organic shape, creating the look of leaf veins. Use subtle differences in the shades of the leaf colors for a runner perfect for Fall. In this project, the completed, improvised strip sets are sewn and cut into leaf shapes using a template. This template will be used for both the leaf shape and the background. The class makes the quilt top only. Must have recent machine quilting experience as a confident beginner to participate.

UPCYCLING CLOTHING

Do you have a blouse in your closet that you haven't worn for quite a while? Every time you go to wear it, it's just not right for some reason or the other, but you can't bring yourself to get rid of it. Maybe it's just not fitting properly, but here it is, still in your closet. Maybe it's the color or the print you love that is telling you to keep it. So...now is the time to do something with that treasure. Bring it, or something you pick up at your local thrift store, to our one-day workshop and with some "upcycling", you may be wearing it very soon.

BIRD HOUSE WALL HANGING

Just a few clever steps turn a collection of Log Cabin blocks into a lovely group of birdhouses. Framed windows allow you to add fussy-cut inhabitants to these mod houses. We chose Christmas kitties and Christmas colors to make this cheerful wall hanging for the holidays. You can choose any theme, but do pick your window insert design first. Then choose your colors and prints/solids to coordinate with the window insert.

The class makes the quilt top only. Must have recent machine quilting experience as a confident beginner to participate.

FABRIC FUSION:

FOLD, CUT & STITCH

Inspired by cut paper snowflakes, beautiful Mexican Papel Picado and Hawaiian appliqué patterns, these cut and fuse fabric squares are easy to do, and just like snow flakes no two are alike! You can make as many fused squares as you like, to use in a quilted panel, table runner or pillow front. In the first session, Lisa will teach you how to create a cut paper pattern to transfer to fabric and fuse to backing square. In the second session, you will begin to embellish your cut fabric squares with simple embroidery stitches that she will teach (or review as the case may be). Must have recent machine sewing experience as a confident beginner to participate. Class is for making the quilt squares with embroidery only.

RARE BEARS AND TEDDY BEARS WORKSHOPS

Your choice of creating a simple teddy bear for local donation, or to join forces with RARE Science, Inc. a non-profit organization that helps find cures for kids with rare diseases. The RARE Bear Project is a community driven initiative that makes one-of-a-kind bears to be donated to the RARE Bear Project for special one-of-a-kind kids.

RARE Bears are stuffed bears made from a specific pattern using leftover, high quality quilting fabric that BOLT will provide for a series of workshops.

The focus of the workshops will be to make the "bear skin."  The RARE Bear Project has volunteers who will stuff the bears and embroider the faces.  The completed bear skins will be shipped to the RARE Bears Project.

The fabric and patterns for the teddy bears going to the community and Rare Science will be provided by BOLT.
